SITE NEWS
July 24, 2021 Well, it seems I have been neglecting to update this page for quite a while. Sorry about that. Lots of things have happened since the last update. You can read about most of the changes on the main Electrongate DMX Files page. No more webcams on this site. Lots of DMX info over at the Facebook Oberheim DX/DMX Fan Club page.
May 25, 2010 Electrongate is moving! I'm going back to California for a new job. I will probably shut down the webcam shortly until I figure out what to do about setting it up again at the new place.
March 24, 2010 Added a new utility program, "Windows Uptime Logger" in the software library.
June 15, 2009 Added a couple of new Oberheim accessories to the products page. Added a new time lapse movie.
May 31, 2009 Added a copy of the OB-Xa factory programmed patch book here.
March 15, 2009 I have a webcam connected again. This one is on the window sill near the computer, where the cats sometimes sit to look outside. You can click the cam photo (located below the time and temperature) to see some more interesting shots.
March 12, 2009 I'm all moved into the new house and today I got the time and temperature displays up and running again.
December 16, 2008 The offices of Electrongate are moving, so the temperature display and webcams will be offline until thigs are settled again.
November 24, 2007 Added schematics and parts layout drawings for the Oberheim DSX on the obfiles page.
July 24, 2007 I found a copy of the original eBay ad I used to sell the BFG-8500 and posted it here.
A Windows program (dmxwav) has been posted on the software page that allows converting between binary DMX sound files and Windows WAV files.
Our cats are now on Catster.com! Check it out...
June 14, 2007 Cleaned up archive pages some more. New updates on the DMX Files, added some new Oberheim schematics.
December 18, 2005 Updated archive pages for easier navigation.
November 10, 2005 A MIDI upgrade for the Oberheim DMX is now available! Check out the details here. Available in kit form or fully installed.
June 1, 2005 Added a new scan of the GZ-1000 User Manual
May 9, 2005 Added a DMX MIDI addendum to the DMX manual on the DMX documents page.
February 21, 2005 Posted some photos I took in 1977 on a new Led Zeppelin in Los Angeles page.
February 19, 2005 With photos supplied by G-Man, down in Phoenix, I put up a page showing how to connect an Oberheim DX drum machine with a Stretch expansion unit.
September 11, 2004 I finally finished scanning and OCRing the Oberheim DMX Owners Manual and posted it in the DMX documents page.

March 3, 2004 Added direct link to time lapse movies on the main page.
September 5, 2003 Added time and temperature display to the camera3 floating window on the webcam page. Lots of updates on the DMX Files, including new Linn drum samples, and instructions on making a three sample voice card.
December 15, 2002 Added a new program (dwav) to the software page.
November 8, 2002 Updated this page to get rid of the black background. Added some more items to the DMX Files FAQ.
October 8, 2002 I made a new Electrongate logo for the main page and updated the mpeg time lapse movie page with thumbnails.
September 16, 2002 Updated Rhonda's crafts page with a new format.
Added a thermometer reading to the main page. A sensor is located outside my office in East Flagstaff. The sensor is connected to a microprocessor controlled unit with an LED display and an RS-232 port. The RS-232 port connects to one of my computers which periodically samples the temperature. A cron job uploads this temperature to the web site hourly.
June 27, 2002 Cleaned up the DMX EPROM download page, correcting some table errors and added "shot" EPROM sample.
June 9, 2002 Revamped Rhonda's Home Page. Also, today is my 3 year anniversary for running SETI@Home. I've returned 3086 work units as of today. That's an average of a little over 1000 work units per year. The Route 66 WebCam is down while I figure out what's wrong with Sleepy, it's host computer.
February 13, 2002 Added Oberheim Prommer schematics to the OB Files.
January 11, 2002 Added a new Software Library page. So far the library contains lines.zip and wav2dmx.zip.
January 2, 2002 Made some minor changes to the web statistics pages to list more search engines in the queries.html page.
October 28, 2001 Added a randomization feature to the Paul Whites of the World Picture Page. You will get a different ordering of pictures each time the page is loaded.
September 6, 2001 Started a DMX Files FAQ page.
June 11, 2001 I missed my second anniversary with Seti@Home, but as of today my stats are as follows:
Packets processed: 2251
Standing: Unknown -- Seti@Home CGI is turned off.
My rate has gone down a bit this year, due to the loss of my fastest computer (at Notify). However, I have just now put a Pentium II 300MHz PC on line running Seti@Home, so things may begin to pick up again pretty soon.
    Current machine lineup:
  • Pentium II (300MHz) FreeBSD 4.3
  • Dual Pentium Pro (200MHz) FreeBSD 3.3 (running two instances of Seti@Home)
  • AMD K6 (450MHz) FreeBSD 3.3
June 8, 2001 My main Windows PC (Bigfoot) had a network card failure yesterday. So, no webcam photos from the front of the office until I fix that.
April 18, 2001 Updated the webcam info page to show the map location of the new webcams. Updated my own entry on the Paul Whites of the World page. Added an mpeg time lapse movie on the webcam page.
March 31, 2001 Added schematics for the Oberheim OB-1 synthesizer to this page. Added schematic for the Oberheim DMX MIDI expansion board here.
January 6, 2001 It's been a long time since I updated this page -- sorry about that. A lot has happened. We've moved to Arizona (Flagstaff), and I'm finally getting my new office set up and back to where I can do updates. I still have many changes to make to the web site in order to reflect the changes in locale. For one thing, I'm no longer doing business as "White Product Development", the new name for my consulting business will be "Electrongate". Stay tuned as I update the website a little at a time... PJW
August 19, 2000 Fixed some broken links on this page.
June 27, 2000 Added archive box to main page for older stuff.
June 9, 2000 Today is my one-year anniversary running SETI@Home. Total packets processed so far: 1184. That's an average of 3.24 packets per day. My current standing out of 2056599 users is 17099th place.
June 7. 2000 Fixed some missing file problems on the DMX Files page. What's interesting is that several people, according to the web log, tried accessing these files and failed, but no one let me know that there was a problem. The only way I knew was from reading the logs.
May 30. 2000 Updated SETI info on Paul's home page.
May 20, 2000 Web access stats may now be viewed here.
May 16, 2000 I cancelled my verio / aimnet account today. It will run until the end of the month, and then will be no more.
May 6, 2000 Big news! I have moved the web site to our new web hosting service, Hurricane Electric, and registered a domain name of my own. Welcome to ElectronGate.com! I'll be changing things around over the next few days and weeks, so keep checking back to see what's new.
May 5, 2000 Over the past months, Verio (my ISP and web host) has slowly been taking away much used privileges and features from me. I use a shell account to acccess the website and handle e-mail while I'm at work. They have been "migrating" people with shell accounts to a new server, and no longer allow e-mail through shell. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. Since Verio acquired Aimnet a couple of years ago, they have stopped providing web access stats, disabled finger access, had problems with mirroring web sites on different machines, and other general annoyances. Last week, I started the process of moving away from Verio to a new ISP. I now have ISDN dialup access through PacBell. PacBell doesn't provide much in terms of web hosting, so I am signing up with Hurricane Electric to host the web site. I am also registering an internet domain name of my own, so in the future, I will be able to have the same email and web addresses even if I move ISPs again in the future.
Good bye, Verio!
