Went to see Bela Fleck & the Flecktones at Prochnow Auditorium at NAU today. Bela Fleck plays the banjo. That's sort of like saying Itzak Perlman plays the fiddle. Victor Wooten plays the electric bass, and Future Man plays the Synthaxe Drumatar. Anyway, Bela and the Wooten Bros. were terrific. The new fourth man, saxaphonist Jeff Coffin, was good too. The group plays mainly instrumental music, some may call it progressive jazz. During a solo banjo interlude, Bela mixed "Linus and Lucy" with Bach and bluegrass. Unfortunately, the crowd at the auditorium spent about 2/3 of the show standing, blocking our view of the stage. It was nice to go see a real live concert without having to travel to the big city, though.
